The Ark Rescue & Rehoming Centre, Ashbourne, Derbyshire
Our monthly Open Days are great family days out and visitors can look round The Ark, meet some of our cats and dogs, enjoy a delicious homemade lunch or tea and bag themselves a bargain from one of our many stalls selling gifts, books, bric a brac, jewellery and toys. The Ark is open on these days from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and admission is free.
Fun Dog Show entries are from 11 a.m. and, as you would guess, there are classes for all sorts of dogs. There is a class for Jolly Good Looking Chap (Most Handsome Dog), Jolly Good Looking Gal (Prettiest Bitch), Jolliest Dog (Waggiest Tail), Jolly Junior (Best Puppy), Best Expression, Jolly Good Condition and Judge's Favourite. Visit the kennels and cattery and meet some of our cats and dogs looking for new homes. There are Dancing Dogs displays and a small animals corner with tortoises, hedgehogs, rabbits and hens. Homemade lunches and teas are available and the shop is open for gifts as well as our outside sales areas selling books, bric a brac, toys etc. Entry to the event is free but the dog show costs £1 per dog per class.
The Ark has lots of cats and dogs patiently waiting for loving new homes so come along and make September a special month by offering one of our residents a new home. You'll get a new best friend and loyal companion and they will get a new family to love. Homemade lunches and teas are available, our shop is open for gifts and our new range of charity Christmas cards and The Ark 2020 calendar will be on sale. Our outside sales areas will be open offering books, bric a brac, toys etc. Admission is free.
Thanks to the National Trust, we are again holding our Sponsored Walk in the beautiful grounds of Ilam Country Park. There will be walks to suit all abilities from a gentle 2 miles stroll to a more energetic 5 miles walk, and all walks start and finish at Ilam Hall. The walk is open to everyone, not just dog owners, who are of course welcome but, as this is sheep country, dogs do have to be kept on a lead. We would love walkers to get sponsorship but, if this is a problem, you can turn up on the day and join in for a donation of just £5. If you can't join in you can sponsor one of our volunteer dog walkers, accompanied by an Ark dog, to do the walk for you. You can download a Sponsorship form by clicking on the button below. If you prefer, you can click on the My Donate button on this website, in which case please say Sponsored Walk.
We do hope you can support this event one way or the other as it is a super day out...whatever the weather!
