WHAT A LOT OF 20P’S !!
Regular readers may remember that, earlier in the year, we had a wonderful offer from Alex Clark Art Ltd. They offered to donate 20p to us for every pack of their Christmas cards sold worldwide and to include a short write up about our charity in each pack. This was extraordinarily generous……but we did not realise at the time quite how generous it would turn out to be! We were astonished recently to receive a cheque for £5,511.72…….which is an awful lot of 20p’s! On behalf of all the cats and dogs at The Ark, we would like to thank Alex and her partner Erik for this wonderful gesture. This will be a huge help to us in our work of rescuing and re-homing unwanted and stray cats and dogs. If anybody would like to see Alex’s designs (which we all love), her website is www.alexclarkart.co.uk
…. AND EXCLUSIVE CARD DESIGNS AS WELL!!
You may also recall that the artist Leslie Stones generously gave us permission to use his artwork on our other range of Christmas cards. These proved very popular and we sold an amazing 850 packs, all the proceeds going to support our charitable work. We are very grateful to Leslie and his website is www.lesliestones.co.uk for those interested in seeing his work.
A message from Bubble and Squeak
We like it very much in our new home (although obviously not a patch on The Ark!). Squeak has taken over the leather rocking chair in the lounge with her own comfy cushion and sometimes the humans move it so they can sit down but she quickly reasserts her ownership. When it is colder she likes to lie on the bed near the radiator but there is some competition for this with an existing resident called Frog. They have learned to share the bed and take turns with the radiator! There is another resident here called Gordon, a cheeky black and white chap who seemed to think the house was his when we arrived. Bubble has disabused him of this notion several times and they now treat each other with well-deserved contempt when their paths cross! In the evenings Bubble sits on mum's lap and helps her read the newspaper - he is getting quite an expert on current affairs. Bubble got into a bit of trouble early on by using the sofa to sharpen his claws but he has agreed to stop doing this now and in fact is helping teach Frog to stop using the coffee table for the same purpose - but we fear he has taken on a losing battle!
We have a nice garden and whilst we could, of course, let ourselves out we do prefer to get mum out of the shower and believe it is only a matter of time before we have her fully trained! We are looking forward to warmer weather and the chance to explore the fields, but in the meantime we are happy and settled.
Love from Bubble and Squeak
