Ashbourne Animal Welfare, registered charity number 1014249, is dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of stray and unwanted cats and dogs. We operate from our own purpose-built rescue centre - The Ark - near Ashbourne, in Derbyshire. All our residents have comfortable accommodation, receive the best of care and stay with us as long as is necessary to find a loving new home.
We have monthly Open Days, when you are welcome to come and see what we do and visit our cats and dogs. At other times, visits to The Ark are by prior appointment.
We are an independent charity and receive no government or lottery help with the ever-increasing cost of our work, so we rely entirely for our income on our own efforts and on the generosity of the public. If you would like to help us by making a donation please click the button below. Thank you.

Nova is a male GSD cross about 3 years old. Fun loving lad, great with people and other dogs.
He came to us as his owner’s situation changed and they couldn’t give him what he needs. Walks really nicely on a lead, wants to please, loads of eye contact.
Can’t believe he’s still with us.

Do you enjoy being around dogs?
If so, consider joining our team of volunteer dog workers/walkers. Great fun, great
people, great dogs. There’s always one or two that need that extra special touch,
but you only need to do what you’re happy with and there’s always support on hand.

His Royal Highness Prince Edward the Earl of Wessex
visited The Ark on 6th May 2011.
